After a fun day swimming with Nurse Sharks, we continue to enjoy our stay in the Exumas.
Side Trip to snorkel at Rocky Dundas
The Thunderball Grotto is not the only breathtaking grotto. Anchored on the north side of Compass Cay, we took the dinghy to the Rocky Dundas Caves for a quick snorkeling adventure and were welcomed by colorful fish and vibrant corals as we swam up to the opening of the caves. Climbing out of the water, we were greeted by a large cathedral with sunlight trickling in through the opening at the top.
After departing the cave, we headed to Rachael’s Bubble Bath, a hidden gem offering natural beauty and relaxation through a fizzy tidal pool.
Nature’s Artistic Touch
Our journey to the bath began with a picturesque walk to the main tidal pool. We followed a stream from shore and observed fossilized conch shells and sea life. As we meandered closer to the pool, we spotted a small sting ray gliding through the shallow waters, its fluid movements catching the sun’s rays as they reflect off its body.
The path to Rachael’s Bubble Bath is not just a walk through nature but also a walk through an impromptu gallery of natural art. Scattered along the way were numerous rock piles, carefully balanced and arranged. These artistic cairns, created by visitors and nature itself, added a whimsical and thoughtful element to the trek. Each pile seemed to tell a story, a testament to the countless travelers who had walked this path before us.
The Main Attraction: Rachael’s Bubble Bath
Finally, we arrived at the highlight of our excursion: Rachael’s Bubble Bath. Nestled between the rocks, this tidal pool is a haven of tranquility. The main pool, fed by the incoming tides of the Atlantic Ocean, was a sight to behold. During low tide, the water was calm and inviting, creating a perfect natural jacuzzi effect.
The real magic happened when the waves from the Atlantic Ocean surged into the pool. Each wave brought with it a rush of bubbles, enveloping us in a frothy embrace. The sensation was exhilarating, as the cool ocean water mixed with the warm pool, creating a refreshing and invigorating experience. We soaked in the pool, letting the waves wash over us, and enjoyed the stunning views of the ocean beyond
