Meet Saga and Her Crew

When our family decided to embark on the Great Loop, we had to decide what type of boat to purchase. We first considered shipping our current vessel, Ships N Giggles, but that was too costly, and she didn’t quite fit our needs, which included:

  • Three state rooms so each kid would have their own space.
  • Two heads
  • No taller than 17.5 feet so we could get under the bridges in Chicago
  • Draft no more than 5 feet

We quickly found the Sea Ray 480 to be the perfect fit and purchased Saga. After passing sea trial and survey, Saga is ready for her crew.

Captain Boris

Charismatic and fun loving, Boris was born in Europe and came to the US in his late teens. He enjoys spending time with friends, boating, skiing, scuba diving, and fishing.

Chief Stu Mayli

Energetic and adventurous, Mayli has grown up on the water. She started on a small boat as a child and would go out crabbing, clam digging, and fishing with her family. Her other interests include camping, traveling, playing video games, scuba diving, skiing (water and snow), and puzzles.

First Mate Annette

Recently receiving her boating card and finishing a stint of sailing camp, Annette is always eager to try new things. She is creative and enjoys drawing, painting, horseback riding, and music. She has a pet Bearded Dragon named Nix who was not able to join us on the Loop.

Bosun Michael

Daring and caring, Michael enjoys exploring the great outdoors. If there is a tree, he will try to climb it. Give him cardboard boxes and he will build a fortress. Michael’s other interests include video games, Legos, and art.

    1. It’s an adventure where we start in Florida, travel up the Atlantic Coast, into Chesapeake Bay, then into New York where we enter the Erie Canal to Oswego, NY. From there, we enter the Trent-Severn System into Lake Huron. Then we go through Lake Michigan into Chicago. The final leg is down the inland rivers to Mobile Alabama. We will then travel to New Orleans, then along the Gulf Coast to Florida where we will complete one large loop by boat.
